New Doodlekit Layouts Update: Almost Complete!

Making the new template system has been excessively complicated, involving pretty much a complete rewrite of our entire templating system. Newer standards, browsers, frameworks and code upgrades have made it hard to put a stake in the ground because everything is moving so fast.
That being said, I am happy to report the free builder Template Design Tools are pretty much complete! I have been doing extensive bug testing the last few weeks as well as creating templates for our user library. I will need to get about 100 or so completed before we can roll out the new system. Here are some example templates I have created so far:
These templates are completely customizable. The new design tools let you pretty much modify every aspect of the template's design and layout. You will be able to import any of the templates I have created in the public library to your website's library. Once imported, you can modify them as you please. If you cannot find any templates close enough to what you are looking for, you will be able to use our template 'Design Wizard' to help you create your own.
The templates use images from your image library for the header banners & logos. You will be able to upload your own personal or stock photos to be used in your template design. Logos and banners can be made into slideshows of multiple images.
There are a thousand more new features that I cannot explain in this short blog post. I just wanted to check in and give everyone an update. We really are almost done. There is still a lot of logistic work to be done (help files, template manager tools, bug testing, beta testing, etc.). We hope to have everything done within a few months.
Thank you everyone for your patience - I have been working around the clock to get this stuff done and will continue to do so until it is complete. I can't wait to show off our new templates and design tools!

Thanks for the update Heath.
Looking forward to launch date.

Very excited to hear about this... anxious to try some out! THANK YOU!!!

Frankly, these do not excite me, I prefer the layout I first designed myself. Don't think I want to participate. Will the newer design tools replace what we were using in the past?
Are drop down menus an option in the new templates?
Irene - Yes, the new design tools will replace the old ones. You will eventually have to switch over. The good news is there will be hundreds of templates to choose from (not just the 8 shown here). You will also be able to use our 'Design Wizard' to help create a custom site if you want (it should hopefully get at least 80%+ of what you want). Then you can go in and tweak it to exactly what you want.
Lisa - yes, the new layouts will have drop down menus.
We recieved the invite to particpate in the "Beta Test" . Think we will pass on that and allow more experienced webmasters debug any issues there may be
Heath, you've convinced me to give a try.
Irene
Heath I would like to beta test your new templates if possible.
Thanks,
Rich
Heath,
I tried to open the link to access the form to beta test your new templates, but. If not too late, I'd like to beta test your new templates.
Regards,
Marzy
I am having difficulty with the old templates and I am going to wait before getting started for the new templates.... are these near completion? I signed up for the business package; but have had all kinds of buggaboos with the current layouts (listing my title twice when I change the font) and the photo I upload appearing much smaller than the blog layout photo.... I used you guys in the past for my old website and was delighted to see you are still here! :)
Hi June,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Just an FYI, that bug with the fonts you are seeing is a cache issue on your browser - just clear the cache and refresh your browser (SHIFT+F5) and only one font will show.
We are working hard on making more layouts. Also working integration of the old system with the new - we should be rolling out the beta in a few weeks.
